10 major Disney plot holes that still need explaining

Nothing beats the kind of happy ending you get from a Disney flick, but while we'd never ever knock 'em, there's no denying that one or two of our favourite fairy tales do have a few plot holes.

You've probably already read our Harry Potter plot holes but now it's Frozen, The Little Mermaid and loads more Disney classics that have got us thinking.

1. Why does Buzz Lightyear freeze up when humans enter the room

If he thinks he's actually a space ranger then why the fluff does he freeze up like all the other toys when Andy enters the room? Surely if he thought he was on an alien planet, he'd just carry on as usual.

2. Yes but where did Elsa's magical powers actually come from?

None of her family are magic and there's no real mention in Frozen of why Elsa can blast snow out of her fingertips. Nope, no backstory for Elsa - she just is magical and we'll probably never know why.

3. Where were all those jewels the Seven Dwarves were mining actually going?

From the looks of Dopey from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves's stash of rubies and diamonds alone, those dwarves could've been riding round Las Vegas in Porches yet in the movie, they were living in a cabin in the woods that was so humble, they didn't even have their own rooms. What's the deal with that?

4. Boo from Monsters Inc has some seriously crappy parents. Someone contact social services already

That may sound harsh, but as far as we're aware, the first Monsters Inc movie took place over a longer time period than a single night both in their and the human realm. So where exactly did Boo's parents think she'd gone? Weren't they worried that she'd totally disappeared from her bedroom over night?

5. Why didn't Cinderella's glass slipper revert to its original form at midnight?

The coach, her horses and the rest of her outfit did, so why did her shoe not turn back into fairy dust too? Doesn't quite make sense to us.

6. Why was Ariel so shocked by that fork at dinner with Eric?

Her dad prances about under the sea with a dirty great trident, so it seems a little weird that Ariel is so knocked out by the concept of one in miniature form. Presumably her dad didn't brush his beard with it either, so god knows why she thought it was a hair brush.

7. Speaking of forks, what was the deal with the Beast not knowing how to use one?

He was a human and a pretty posh one at that before the whole curse fandango. Surely he would've encountered a fork in his time living as a prince in a palace.

8. Where did Chip come from?

We get that the entire castle has been cursed for over ten years when the story of Beauty in the Beast unfolds, but our main point of contention is Chip. Where exactly did he come from?

He seems a lot younger than 10 and this begs the question as to who his father is and whether he was born a teacup. Are they implying that a teapot give birth because that just made the story 20 times freakier.

9. How did Pocahontas pick up English so quick?

According to the story, Pocahontas and her family had never encountered the English before John Smith and his band of merry men rolled into town. With that in mind - and the fact she supposedly never even knew people existed outside of her home land - how the heck did she manage to learn English?

Does it also work with French because we could REALLY have done with that knowledge revising for our GCSE.
